The purpose of this thesis project was to survey employees’ view on the Kirkkonummi municipality Finnish early childhood education ‘Virtues at work’ -process. The aim was to get information on the effectiveness of the process and develop ways that will keep the virtues in the work community in the future, so they would not be forgotten. The Kolsari and Sepänkannas work communities and Kirkkonummi‘s Finnish childhood education were the beneficiaries of the thesis project. The development tasks examined such questions as how the ‘Virtues at work’ -process has affected employees and the work community, and what development ideas the employees have on developing work well-being in the future. The material of the thesis consisted of the group discussions and self-evaluations of the employees at Kolsari and Sepänkannas obtained at development day workshops. The knowledge base of the thesis consisted of information from literature, articles and Kirkkonummi municipality’s ‘Virtues at work’ - material on work well-being and virtues. The laws attached to work well-being were also discussed in the knowledge base. Qualitative research and workshops were discussed in the knowledge base of research methods. The research was executed through multiple workshops with the employees at the development day, so it would not cause extra work for the employees. The results consisted of Post-It notes of the group conversations, self-evaluation notes and observation of the work-shops. Both work community specific workshop notes were written on separate files and were analysed separately and compared with each other. The group conversation’s main results were about how the employees thought that the ‘Virtues at work’ -process had affected the work community and themselves, the positive and negative aspects of the process and the development ideas the employees have. The results of the self-evaluations were about the positive aspects the employee thought she/he had brought to the process and what she/he could develop in herself/himself. The conclusions of the thesis were: virtues are important in a work community and every employee’s action is important, everyone can develop themselves and hurry isn’t a positive feature when developing a work community. Recommendations were related to how to develop a work community without haste and how virtues can be handled so that they would not be forgotten in work community’s daily life....
